What is the cheapest hotel room found on one price comparison site for each UK city? These prices are just a guide and don’t include any discounts that might be available on the dates you need, or (potentially cheaper) prices we can get elsewhere.

Here’s the cheapest we could find for 1 person on Thursday the 5th of September for 1 night, in the city centre. We’ll also be discussing the difference of what you can actually get for the same price in different cities. 

*Some of these were only the cheapest due to being discounted and some prices have since risen.*

Edinburgh – £159 per night.

Price is for a loft double ensuite room. No parking or breakfast offered at this hotel. Reviews have an average of 7.3 out of 10. It’s rated poorly for staff, facilities, and value for money. Photos show it to be modern & clean. Despite this extreme price, this was actually the cheapest hotel room in the Edinburgh city centre for these dates.

Belfast – £84 per night.

Price is for a single ensuite room, with breakfast included, and free parking. The hotel’s reviews have an average of 8.5 out of 10. Photos suggest the rooms and food are high quality.

Glasgow – £81 per night.

Price is for a double ensuite room without a window. This hotel doesn’t offer parking or breakfast, it does have a 24 hour front desk. Reviews have an average of 6.2 out of 10. It’s rated poorly for facilities, cleanliness, comfort, and value for money. Photos show it to be very basic, with small rooms. This doesn’t seem to be a great deal considering the cheapest hotel room for other UK cities have better reviews & facilities, for cheaper prices.

York – £75 per night.

Price is for a double ensuite room. Price includes parking. Breakfast isn’t available at this hotel. Reviews have an average of 7.1 out of 10. It’s rated poorly for comfort, cleanliness, facilities, and Wi-Fi. Photos show it to be very basic and old fashioned.

Lincoln – £66 per night.

Price is for a double room with a private bathroom. Breakfast isn’t offered at this hotel, parking is free. Reviews have an average of 8.2 out of 10, scoring very well for everything. Photos don’t show the rooms.

Nottingham – £56 per night.

Price is for a family room, 1 double bed & 1 child bed – ensuite. Breakfast isn’t included at this price, but is available. Parking is offered, but isn’t free. Reviews have an average of 7.8 out of 10. It’s rated well for location. Photos show it to be modern, but basic.

London – £55 per night.

Price is for a single ensuite room. Breakfast & parking aren’t available. Reviews have an average of 4 out of 10, rated very poorly for everything. Photos show it to be clean, but cramped. It’s worth remembering that this is just the cheapest hotel room found, not the average cost of hotel rooms in London.

Derby – £55 per night.

Price is for a single room with a private bathroom. Neither breakfast, nor parking are available at this hotel. Reviews have an average of 8.9 out of 10. It’s rated highly for everything but Wi-Fi. Photos show it to be well kept & homely.

Portsmouth – £54 per night.

Price is for a double room with a shared bathroom. Breakfast & parking aren’t available at this hotel. Reviews have an average of 7.4 out of 10, rated very highly for Wi-Fi. Photos show it to be modern & well presented, but basic.

Price is for a double ensuite room. Breakfast isn’t included in this price, but is available. Parking is free. Reviews have an average of 7.7 out of 10, rated highly for value for money and location. Photos show the hotel to be basic but clean.

Cardiff – £41 per night.

Price is for a single ensuite room. Breakfast & parking are available, but not included in this price. Reviews have an average of 6.1 out of 10, rated poorly for everything but location. Photos show it to be very basic and old fashioned, in need of a refurb.

Manchester – £41 per night.

Price is for a single room with no window, shared bathroom. Breakfast is available, but not included in this price. No parking available at this hotel. Reviews have an average of 6.9 out of 10. It’s rated highly for location, and poorly for facilities & Wi-Fi. Photos show more expensive rooms to be very nice, single rooms to be slightly more basic.

Newcastle – £40 per night.
