*Some of these were only the cheapest due to being discounted and some prices have since risen.
Price is for a standard room with a double bed. Pets are allowed (potential extra charge) and it’s rated Good for everything but facilities. The hotel has an agreement for a discount with a nearby multi-storey car park. A similar price to the hotel in Bristol but you are getting more for your money.
Price is for a single room with a shared bathroom. Pets are allowed and it’s well rated by solo travellers. This hotel has on-site parking (£9, first come first serve), making it ideal for business travel. Its main drawbacks are the poor ratings for facilities, value for money, cleanliness and comfort. It’s more expensive than other hotels with better ratings on this list.
Price is for a single room with a CD & DVD player. Dogs are welcome and each bedroom has an alarm clock. It’s only rated badly for facilities which could be due to its lack of disabled access. Photos show it to be homely, the rooms feel like they are in a house instead of a hotel which could improve your stay.
Price is for a single room with a shared bathroom. The price for a double bed with a private bathroom is actually £90 per night. This hotel is cute & homely, as well as scoring well with solo travellers. It’s also in a good location for the train station. Unfortunately, this price is for a single bed with a shared bathroom. Pets are welcome, so a good choice for teams that like to bring a dog. The main issue with this hotel is a poor review scoring for comfort, cleanliness, Wi-Fi, value for money and facilities. It also lacks its own parking.
Price is for a standard double room with ensuite. The price of this hotel has actually gone up (now £72 per night) since starting this article so getting it this cheap could be rare. Pets are actually allowed at this hotel but may come with an extra charge. They are rated Good for everything and even have parking. Photos look nice and seem to match up to the new raised price.
Price is for a double room with ensuite & no window. The first thing that stands out about this hotel is that the photos show it to be nicer than many of the others on this list. It’s also in a great location for amenities and things to do on an evening. The lack of free parking lets them down but they do have a discount agreement with a nearby multi-storey car park (£6.50 per day). The only thing they have scored low on is facilities.
Price is for a single room with an ensuite. This hotel is in a great location for amenities, with connections to the airport and train station. It also has parking and a 24 hour reception, making it ideal for business travel. Rated Good in all categories and reviewers don’t seem to have many issues. The photos show it to be basic but not unpleasant.
Price is for a single room with an ensuite. This hotel is part of a pub in Gay Village so is likely to get noisy at night. The standard double room offers 215 square feet and also gives the option of a cheaper room with a single bed. Its main drawbacks are the noise and lack of accessibility (no lift). However, it's very central, reviews are Good, the pub is a good social opportunity and photos look plenty decent enough.
Price is for a single room with an ensuite. This hotel is in a great location on the main A6 road of the Cathedral Quarter. It has friendly, colourful rooms and a city view. You also have the option of a cheaper room with a single bed. Reviews are also all scoring Good. The main flaw of this hotel is the lack of it’s own car park with the nearest option being charged.
Price is for a standard double room with an ensuite. Breakfast is only an extra £9 and looks delicious. This hotel also has fantastic parking. The only thing this hotel scores badly on in the reviews is the Wi-Fi, which is at least free. The photos show it to be fairly basic but clean & suitable.
Price is for a single room with an ensuite. A 3 star hotel with poor reviews for hygiene, staff, Wi-Fi and more. Photos of the hotel look dated and in need of refurbishment. This might not be the most expensive on the list but it still reflects that London is simply more expensive, as this is certainly worse than what you can get for £41 or less in other cities.
In 2016 the average price of a hotel room in London was £173 per night.
Price is for a double room with an ensuite. This is everything you can expect from a chain hotel on the cheaper end of the scale. Reviews suggest that the staff are helpful and that it’s convenient. Its faults are occasional issues with the lift, a few complaints about uncomfortable beds and lack of heating. The same price as the hotel in London, but nicer.
Price is for a double room with an ensuite. Reviews suggest that the only thing this hotel has going for it!
