Cooking in your accommodation: 5 easy meals you can make.

Cooking in your accommodation instead of going out to eat is one of the best ways you can cut costs while working away. Most serviced accommodations have cooking facilities, so it’s often a good option to be aware of.

Here’s 5 easy meals you can cook in a serviced accommodation’s kitchen:

Basic Burritos

Start by chopping up some onions and any other vegetables you want to add. Then fry up the onions, followed by some beef mince. Add the other vegetables and a drained can of beans (black / cannoli / kidney). When that’s cooked add some tomato passata, whatever seasonings you fancy and a packet of pre-cooked rice. Bring to the boil then simmer to reduce the liquid. Put the mixture inside some tortillas, sprinkle cheese on top, then put in the oven until the cheese melts.

A Simple Stir-Fry

Chop up all the vegetables you want to add, then fry up any meat you are adding. When the meat is cooked, add the vegetables, then the egg noodles. When those are cooked, add the sauce and ensure the noodles are coated.

Fresh Pasta Bake

Fry up some onion & garlic, then add chorizo. When that is cooked add a tin of chopped tomatoes & some seasoning, bring to simmer then add some fresh pasta or gnocchi. Put in an oven-proof dish, sprinkle with your choice of cheese, then bake until the cheese is melted and crispy. Try adding some peas or sweetcorn for some quick extra veg!

Quick Chicken Curry

Quick ready-made curry sauces are quite easy to buy at the shop, just pick your favourite. Fry up some diced chicken breast then add the sauce, letting it simmer for how long it says on the jar. Add some microwave rice and some toaster naan bread and you have a meal.

Easy Risotto

Fry up some onion then some chorizo or bacon lardons. Add 300g of risotto rice and some stock. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and cook until the rice is ready. Add some frozen peas or sweetcorn or edamame beans, some cheese and season. Cook for a few more minutes then serve!

It’s unusual but sometimes your accommodation will only have a microwave, kettle and toaster. If that happens, here’s some Microwave Recipes!
